Title: Test tube babies: God’s work or science gone too far?
Background: This month, the Nobel Prize for Science was awarded to the founder of invitro fertilization (IVF), which has given rise to millions of what is called test tube babies. The award to British scientist Robert Edwards has received global acclaim as well as condemnation. There has been a huge debate about the ethic of the procedure but supporters say it has given joy to parents who otherwise would be without baby. There have been four million IVF babies since the technique was discovered seven years ago.
Question: Couples looking with difficulty delivering are increasing turning to invitro fertilization, a process by which egg cells are fertilized by sperm outside the body [in test tube]. Is this God’s way of solving the problems of millions of desparate couples or do you think science has gone too far?
